Pizarro bites into Husbands' lead
published: Tuesday | November 20, 2007

ETOBICOKE, Canada (CMC):

The race for the jockeys' title at Woodbine racetrack took a dramatic twist on Saturday when Canadian Tyler Pizarro reeled off an amazing five wins to cut Barbadian Patrick Husbands' lead in the standings to just seven.

Starting the day with a comfortable 12-win lead after his double on Friday, Husbands went winless on the 10-race card as Pizarro unleashed a late-season flurry to haul himself back into contention for the title. Pizarro captured races one, four, five, seven and 10 to move to 123 wins for the season, a mere seven adrift of Husbands who sits on 130.

Emma-Jayne Wilson also scored two wins on the day' card to saunter to 119 and keep the race down to the December 9 finish line close.
