Royal Malice claimed
published: Tuesday | November 20, 2007

Eight horses were claimed at Caymanas Park on Saturday, among them odds-on favourite ROYAL MALICE who won the fourth race over 800 metres straight for exercise riders.

The seven-year-old gelding was taken from trainer Phillip Elliott for $170,000 by trainer Christopher Morrison on behalf of Edward Brown.

In the first race, the luckless favourite CRUCIAL POINT was taken from champion trainer Wayne DaCosta for $400,000 by trainer Anthony Ferguson for himself.

In the fifth race won by REGAL SERENADE, three horses changed hands, including the runner-up OLE KING COLE who was picked up for $315,000 by trainer Leroy Fearon on behalf of Winston Haywood.

Also claimed in this race was the beaten favourite CAPTAIN BONE for $315,000. The American six-year-old horse was taken from new trainer Dalton Sirjue by Christopher Morrison for himself, while HEZA RANGING was picked up for $300,000 by trainer Patrick Chang on behalf of the Hustler.

The set of claims came in the closing 1600-metre race won by the 21-1 outsider DESIGNED FOR LUCK. Highly fancied NIJINSKY'S WAR, who finished fifth, was claimed for $210,000 by trainer Henry Harrison Jr. for himself, NEUTRALISER also for $210,000 by trainer Ralph Porter on behalf of Leroy Biggs and the marginal favourite CHINA TOWN for $210,000 by trainer Robert Darby Sr. for Kary Neale.
