Protect children from dirty music
published: Wednesday | November 14, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Crime and violence are the result of low morals and poor values cultivated and taught in our society. The disregard for life and the human anatomy are shown in the proliferation of hardcore, demoralising, atrocious, dancehall lyrics being played in public transportation.

Sex has been so misused and abused it is now poised to destroy the very innocent and naive of our society. There is no way we should be sending out our children to school or wherever else to be taught lessons about hardcore sex and other immoral and abysmal lifestyles, especially in public trans-portation by persons who should be responsible agents of society who are entrusted with the care and lives of our children/people.

Clean music

What has happened to the human rights advocates? Don't they take public transportation? Are they only interested in speaking out against the senseless killing of our loved ones? How about encouraging clean music that does not incite death, rape and other criminal activities in our society?

Dancehall artistes, disc jockeys, promoters, teachers and other public figures, it does not have to be slack or vulgar to sell. Let us inspire and promote the right attitude in ourselves and our children so that Jamaica can become a more desirable place to live.

Remember, music stimulates action; let your music stimulate positive action. For our children's sake, take the dirty music out of public trans-portation and help us save our children.

Positive thoughts stimulate positive action. Let us strive to create a positive environment for our children.

I am, etc.,
