Kudos, Immaculate!
Congratulations to Immaculate Conception High School in their hosting of a Parenting Seminar on November 10, which I understand was a success.
It would do well for Jamaica if all schools, secondary and primary, follow this good example. It would also do well for the Ministry of Education to not only encourage but to facilitate parenting seminars in all schools - especially at the basic and primary levels.
It is said that lack of or low self-esteem is at the root of most problems. Self-esteem is, however, formed by age seven. It is incumbent on parents to nurture a positive self-image in their children: hence, the need for parenting skills to be taught as many parents are not aware. The need for teaching parenting skills is made even more critical by the fact that children are today parenting children.

Searching for mother
My name is Cynthia. I have been trying to find my birth mother for months now. I was born June 5, 1971.
The information I have is: My mother was born 1941 in Jamaica. She stood 5' 4" and weighed 175 lb. She came to New Jersey two years prior to my birth and resided with a sister and a brother while she worked as a housekeeper earning $60 per week.
Before my birth, she was already a mother of six children, ranging in age four to 14, who were left with her 71-year-old father in Jamaica to care for. My birth mother was one of 12 children.
My father was 24 at the time of my birth. He was 6', weighed 155 lb and resided in Delaware. My mother and father were both in the United States illegally.
My mother returned to Jamaica in August of 1971 as planned, so she could marry the father of five of her children. On June 28, 1974 my adoption was finalised. Please, anyone with any information, please contact me at email blksolara71@msn.com or number (1-302-740-6990)

Be Careful of wishes
The Gleaner article states Mr. Golding acknowledged that his administration did not anticipate many of the challenges which have emerged since assuming office. It seems Mr. Golding had forgotten the saying, 'Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it'.
