Harbour View, Portmore advance
published: Saturday | November 10, 2007

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Jamaican clubs Harbour View and Portmore United scored emphatic wins on Thursday to book quarter-final berths in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship here.

Kavin Bryan stroked in a hat-trick and Fabian Taylor scored a brace to propel Harbour View to a 10-0 crushing of Antiguan side SAP FC at the Ato Bolden Stadium, while Portmore scored twice in the first half to set up a comfortable 3-0 win over SV Leo Victor of Suriname at the Ato Bolden Stadium.

Bryan scored second half goals in the 51st, 84th and 86th minutes while Taylor scored on either side of half-time in the 36th and 55th, to orchestrate Harbour View's win. The victory pushed them to four points, the same as Inter, but with a superior goal-difference of plus-nine to the latter's minus-two.

Portmore, meanwhile, got first half goals from Steven Morrissey in the 28th minute and former national player Onandi Lowe in the 41st minute to lead 2-0 at half-time. Wolry Wolffe made the points safe for the Jamaicans in the 75th minute to wrap up an uncomplicated victory.

little problems

The Jamaican clubs were joined in the quarter-final round by local Pro League outfits Joe Public and San Juan Jabloteh who experienced little problems in their respective outings against opponents from Aruba. While Jabloteh hammered Deportivo Nacional 5-1 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, Joe Public crushed SV Racing 7-0 at the Marvin Lee Stadium.

Also qualifying for the quarter-finals were Puerto Rico Islanders, Baltimore de St Marc of Haiti, Antigua's Bassa FC, and Leo Victor of Suriname.
