Hunter TyloI'm sad to report that the 19-year-old son of Hunter Tylo (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful) died at the actress' home in Las Vegas on October 18. Michael Tylo Jr. had a seizure disorder in his medical history, and it appeared he suffered from a seizure and fell into the swimming pool and drowned. His father is Michael Tylo, Hunter's ex-husband and a soap veteran best known as Quint on Guiding Light in the 1980s.
Fans have been sending their condolences to Hunter via the soap's official website, www.boldandbeautiful.com. There is a message board with one of its subject headings devoted to Ms. Tylo. A spokesperson for the soap said other correspondence will be accepted at: Hunter Tylo c/o B&B, 7800 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90036.
soap star arrested
Nathaniel Marston is the latest soap star to be arrested. Having previously attacked an ATM machine back in 1999, the One Life to Live actor (he plays Michael McBain) was accused of assaulting three strangers on the streets of New York City on October 21. He allegedly got out of a cab and threw a metal crate at one man and broke the leg of another before being arrested and taken to Bellevue Hospital. He was charged with felony assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and weapons possession. No word yet on how this will affect his employment status at ABC.
General Hospital fans who have been asking for more Ned might want to start watching As the World Turns. Wally Kurth has been hired to play a character named Sam beginning November 28. Some had wondered if he would return to Days of Our Lives to play his other famous role, Justin Kiriakis, but ATWT snatched up the popular actor instead. He says on his official website, www.wallykurth.net, that this is "a very different type of role for me." Can't wait to see how!
TV and film career
Fans of Philip and Chloe can rejoice in Nadia Bjorlin's return to Days in late November. The actress left the soap in 2003 but returned for a few short stints before getting back to her TV and film career. She starred in the drag-racing film Redline and the short-lived Denise Richards prime-time soap Sex, Love & Secrets. Apparently Bjorlin has signed a long-term contract to play Chloe. She also joins her rumoured off-screen boyfriend Brandon Beemer (Shawn) on the show.
In other casting news, Kate Collins returns as Janet From Another Planet on All My Children November 19. Lauretta Vaughn also returns to Oakdale as Kit on ATWT beginning November 26.
Van Hansis, who is winning over new fans as gay teen Luke Snyder on ATWT, is starring in the off-Broadway version of Charles Busch's Die, Mommie, Die! The play began October 21 and is scheduled to run through February 17, Tuesday through Friday evenings at New World Stages. The theatre is located at 340 W. 50th St., New York, NY.
