Issue:From pothole to pigsty
published: Saturday | November 10, 2007

May I, through this medium, bring to the attention of whomever is responsible for repairing the roads of the Corporate Area the condition of the eastern intersection of Duke and Tower Streets.

There is and has been a gigantic pothole which stretches across the entire Tower Street. It existed before 'Dean' and it existed before 'Ivan'. Indeed, it has been there for very many years.

Not that it does not serve a purpose. It does. It is quite deep and when it rains, it becomes a fair-size pool.

On one occasion, I saw a large pig wallowing in it and a second was standing by awaiting its turn.

That brought to mind the ditty:

It was early last September as far as I remember

I was lurching down the street in tipsy pride

No one was I disturbin', as I lay there by the kerbin'

When a pig walked up and lay down by my side

As I lay there in the gutter thinking thoughts I dare not utter.

A lady passing by was heard to say

'You can know the man who boozes by the company he chooses'

And the pig got up and slowly walked away
