DENVER (Reuters):
BRETT FAVRE threw an 82-yard touchdown strike to Greg Jennings in overtime to give the Green Bay Packers a 19-13 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night.
Denver had sent the game into overtime on Jason Elam's 21-yard field goal as regulation time expired, but after Green Bay won the toss and opted to receive the ball, the 38-year-old veteran quarterback took over.
On the first play after the kick-off, Favre connected with Jennings at about the Denver 40-yard line and the wide receiver sped into the end zone to give Green Bay their sixth win in seven starts.
Pushing ahead
"I just knew if I get the ball, he (Broncos cornerback Dré Bly) was kind of a step behind me and I would be able to go in for the score," Jennings, who caught six passes for 141 yards, said.
Favre completed 21 of 27 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns to hand the Broncos the stunning loss, which came a day after the Colorado Rockies lost the World Series to the Boston Red Sox in Denver.
Favre hit James Jones with a 79-yard scoring stike in the first period for the other touchdown.
