NATIONAL REPRESENTATIVES Kemoy Camp-bell and Petrona McCly-mont were the male and female winners of the Hugo Chambers 10k road race which ended at Jamaica College on Sunday.
Campbell, who represented Jamaica at the World Youth Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic, last July, took the men's section in 33 minutes, five seconds, while McClymont topped the women's division in 43 minutes and 42 seconds.
In a race Campbell described as "pretty easy", he beat Kirk Brown (33.24), Andrew Gutzmore of Ebony (34:34), along with G.C. Foster College's pair of Damion Bent (34:42) and Marshall Williams (35:19).
Campbell said: "I am satisfied with the time and the challenge from Brown. The challenge was pretty good (with Brown), from the 1K straight to the 4K, but then I started to leave him for a little."
In the female section, a gutsy performance from McClymont was what took her home ahead of Rosemarie Alridge of Bellefield, who was second in 44 minutes, 19 seconds.
McClymont said Alridge was ahead of her up to the final mile, but said it was her gutsy attitude that brought her home.
"Honestly, I guess I probably have a little more guts than her ... I am not better than her, but I probably have a little more guts," McClymont said.
Karlene Blagrove was third in 45:16; Roshane Boreland of St. Jago took fourth in 46:29 while Yahema Grant of Tacius Golding was fifth in 46:46.
The next race on the road-race calendar is the Ministry of Health 5K, the second race in the Foska Oats Grand Prix, set for this Sunday at Emancipation Park.
