Another county stint on cards for Taylor
published: Wednesday | October 31, 2007

Jerome Taylor ... could be set for a return to county cricket. - File

KINGSTON, Jamaica:

YOUNG WEST Indies pace bowler, Jerome Taylor, could be looking at another spell in English County cricket soon. Leicestershire coach, Tim Boon, who oversaw the 23-year-old's stint there earlier this year, said he was impressed by Taylor's performances and would be glad to sign him again or even recommend him to another county.

"I was happy with Jerome's performances both with the bat and ball and his commitment on the field," Boon said.

"He was able to affect the course of games, removing top-order batsmen and contributed with valuable runs in the lower middle order. I felt he improved all areas of his game.

"Jerome bowled superbly in the first innings against Middlesex and would have made any international batsman struggle. His length was consistently hitting splice and swinging away with a quick 'throat' bouncer.

Continue to work hard

"Jerome will need to continue to work hard both on his strength and endurance. I would sign Jerome for three months in the future given our needs and would be happy to recommend him on."

Taylor's stint at Leicestershire was part of Digicel's West Indies Cricket Board's (WICB) Cricket Scholarship programme.

The Jamaican, who has played 13 Tests and 35 one-day internationals, was the first recipient of the scholarship.
