Hosts Camperdown downed Holy Trinity 24-15 in an exhilarating Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Digicel junior netball match at Camperdown High yesterday.

Camperdown dominated the first quarter with aggressive and rapid passes from the centre court to the shooting arc. Goal shooter Annika Richards and goal attack Tanoya Wallace skilfully kept their team spirit alive with excellent shots at the goalpost.

Holy Trinity were also quite lively, but despite many passes being made to goal shooter Jodian Reid by goal attack Chrisanta Higgins, she failed to capitalise and the team stumbled to a disappointing 7-15 deficit in the first half.

Dominance

Intense play continued in the second half by Camperdown as they continued their dominance, maintaining possession of the ball to strengthen their lead.

Holy Trinity fought hard to remain in contention but were no match for the girls from east Kingston, who won 24-15.

Camperdown's coach Wayne Stewart said: "The performance of the team wasn't bad. Some of our key players did not play today because of suspension but the players did well overall."

Jennifer Richards, coach of Holy Trinity, was extremely disappointed: "I am upset because I think it is just basic netball skills that caused my team to lose. Also, I do not think some of the calls from the umpires were fair,"she said.

Camperdown will next play Group five leaders Queen's, while Holy Trinity will host Penwood.
