Three Jamaican students have been named among the top performers in the 2007 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate, (CSEC) examinations.
They are to be awarded by the exam's administrators - the Caribbean Examinations Council - at the opening ceremony of its annual meeting on December 6, in St. Lucia.
Lenmour Bell of Glenmuir High School will receive the award for outstanding performance in technical and vocational subjects.
He achieved Grade I in eight subjects, including three technical subjects, and Grade II in one subject.
Best short story
The second Jamaican, Grace-Ann Collins of Ardenne High School will receive the award for the best short story.
Owen Lloyd of Tarrant High School will be awarded for the best three-dimensional visual arts piece, entitled 'The Crossing'.
Wainella Isaacs of Queen's College in Guyana has won the top CSEC candidate award.
She achieved Grade I in 13 subjects, including agricultural science, and Grade II in physics.
She also received the award for the most outstanding performance in science.
One other Guyanese student will receive an award as well as one Barbadian and one student from Belize.
Queen's College in Guyana, will receive the 'School of the Year' award.
