Prep School action tips off today

THE 2007 Jamaica Independent Schools Association's (JISA) Prep Schools Netball Competition tips off today at the Leila Robinson Court at the National Stadium.

The opening ceremony is slated to commence at 8:30 a.m. followed by a rally at 9:30 a.m. The final is scheduled for 2:20 p.m.

The league starts next Tuesday and matches will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, culminating with the final on December 6. The competition will see 28 prep schools in four zones competing in a round-robin format for both rally and league matches.

For the rally, the zone winners will advance to the knockout semi-finals.

In the league, the winners and runners-up from each zone will advance to two semi-final groups which will be contested in a round-robin format, from which the respective winners will advance to the final.

Teams

Teams competing in zone one include Alvernia, Bright Beginnings, Holy Childhood, Our Lady of the Angels, St. Cecelia, Trafalgar Christian and Vaz. Zone two comprises Ardenne, Calvary, Dunrobin, Excel, Foundation, Mavisville and St. Hugh's.

In zone three it's Hydel, Kings Gate, Lannaman's, Portmore Missionary, Splendor, St. Andrew and St. Cyprian's and in zone four, Meadowbrook, Mona, Morris Knibb, Quest, Sts. Peters and Paul, St. Theresa and Wolmer's will battle it out.

The defending champions are Quest Preparatory.
