High Commissioner-designate to South Africa appointed

Ambassador Audley Rodriques is Jamaica's first resident High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of South Africa.

A career diplomat with some 26 years in the service, Mr. Rodriques is currently Ambassador to Venezuela, an office he took up in 2003. Prior to that, he served as Deputy High Commissioner and then acting High Commissioner to Nigeria. He was also Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Rodriques holds a B.Sc. in International Relations from the University of the West Indies and a Masters Degree in Public Ad-ministration from Carleton University in Canada.

He is expected to take up his appointment early next year.
