Henrik Litske, a 49-year-old citizen of Denmark, was found dead in a Toyota Yaris motor car at Frome in Westmoreland early yesterday morning.
The Frome police say the discovery was made at daybreak when persons who were heading for work on the sugar estate, noticed the partially submerged car in a section of a body of water popularly called the 'Blue Hole' on estate grounds. Litske's body was found floating next to the driver's door which was partially opened.
Despite claims from several residents that gunshots were heard about 5:00 a.m., a wound to the back of his head led investigators to believe that Litske's attacker used a blunt object to inflict the fatal wound.
The back windshield of the car was shattered while the front windshield was bashed in. Travel and other personal documents belonging to Litske were found scattered inside the vehicle. Bloodstains were seen on the bank of the pond leading investigators to believe that there may have been a fight which led to Litske's death before he and the car were pushed into the pond.
The car is registered to a Courtney Locke from Allside in Trelawny. The police believe Litske rented the car from Locke. At press time yesterday a motive for the killing was yet to be ascertained.
