Western Bureau:

Montego Bay will be in the hands of 'the last of the foundation selectors', Winston 'Merritone' Blake, on Saturday November 3, at Tropical Beach.

This journey down memory lane will be the major fund-raising activity of the Montego Bay Community Home for Girls (MBCHG/Melody House) for 2007. Founded in 1979, the home is the brainchild of Christine Dexter, Jacqueline Kennedy and Lloyd Morris.

Situated in Fairfield, Irwin, Melody House is a home away from home for young girls in need of care and protection. Most of the young ladies currently living at Melody House are high school students.

Vast knowledge of music

The charity event is Blake's fourth time and Public Relations Officer of Melody House, Shona Heron, told The Gleaner that Melody House concerts enjoy a large following.

"Merritone has a vast knowledge of music, he really is a cool operator," said Heron, who promised "that patrons will enjoy clean music, a whole heap of great oldies and great vibes."
