JUTC just like minibuses
published: Wednesday | October 24, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

It is truly sad, after seeing a serious 'organised' bus system implemented to see the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses operating on the roads like minibuses.

They can be seen stopping just about anywhere nowadays to pick up whomever, chatting on their cellphones with one hand on the steering wheel, bullying their way through the traffic, but most sadly, repeatedly blatantly breaking red lights at serious, serious risk - and for what? To whose benefit?

I must make mention of the driver/drivers who ply the Half-Way Tree Road on to Grove Road at 7 o'clock in the weekday mornings as, on my way to work, I see most mornings him/them breaking the red light clearly after we on Ruthven Road have received a green light to come out.

It angered me so much last week to see a lady in front of me having to jam on her brakes to avoid crashing with the bus and I almost crashed into her on Thursday, October 18 at 7:05 a.m.

I am, etc.,

Disappointed
