NOTE-WORTHY: Private matter
published: Wednesday | October 24, 2007

Private matter

I am commenting to the story about men and oral sex. I believe Jamaicans need a wake-up call. Everything seems to be a 'fad' to them. As the young man proudly said, "Jamaicans are Americanised everything they do we do." I have nothing against oral sex, but shouldn't this be left in private.

I am very surprised that an article of this nature was even printed in the paper. What was the moral or the substance of this story?

Jamaica has more serious issues to address, and that can be written about. Why waste your readers' time by printing stories like these.

Electronic problem

Motorists who use the Portmore toll road are required to pay their 'fare' by size. Those who use the T-tag (smart card) and need to get on to Port Henderson Road in the evenings or exit Port Henderson Road in the mornings have problems due to the fact that the T-tag lanes on either side are on the same side of the conductor (toll plaza), resulting in motorists winding down their windows and begging other motorists to allow them to get to the extreme left or right, to get to their destination due to the short distance from and to the conductor (toll plaza).

We, the commuters who are about to succumb to wasted hours stuck in traffic carpooling in order to get to work or school because of this famous Portmore parking lot that we have become acquainted with, need to let the Government know that education enhances commonsense and the electronic conductor just cannot work.

Helping ourselves

If as a country we cannot solve our own problems it means that we have not yet been emancipated.

Do we not have universities with sound minds in Jamaica? Or is Mr. Shaw using this method to beg money?

Every time that a non-Western country adopts recommendations from the World Bank or International Monetary Fund the masses suffer. There is always increased interest rates, hike in food prices and, to add to the equation, an increase in crime.

We seem to be back in the days when the house slave and the field slave existed. Let us stop depending on other people to uplift us.
