How Johnny coped with fame
published: Sunday | October 21, 2007

Christopher Daley

Christopher 'Johnny' Daley - formerly of the television series, Lime Tree Lane - who has managed to survive the ills of being a child star, says, one day he just found himself famous.

"There was no blueprint for me, I just found myself famous. I was a normal child from the inner city. The only thing that changed for me was that I was popular in the public. But all of a sudden, I started to feel a little insecure and paranoid because all eyes were on me," Daley recounts.

alone

"There were also times when I felt very alone because no one could identify with me. Even as a teenager, you lose a lot of friends because you get too much attention for them to be in your company, and so they cannot have a normal friendship with you," Daley recalls.

He adds: "What helped me to go through that process was the people I was working with, because they went through the same thing, but only they were older, and they made me understand how my life had changed and what I was going through. That's what saved me."
