Jamaica College (JC) drown St Mary 17-0
published: Friday | October 19, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

JAMAICA COLLEGE barely broke a sweat as they sliced their way through a hapless St. Mary's College 17-0 in ISSA/Pepsi/-Digicel Manning Cup action at Jamaica College yesterday.

St. Mary's College must have thought that they hit rock bottom in their 13-0 hammering at the hands of Waterford in their previous fixture.

However, the St. Catherine team was only perched on a precipice near the bottom as they not only conceded a new season high, but now have let in a startling 63 goals.

Goal spree

Ramone Palmer netted six goals in the encounter, Anthony Grant had four, Marc Robinson and Ashaine Walker had a brace each while there was one goal each for Adrian Christian, Kemar Douglas and Akeem Bennett.

Palmer opened the scoring in the second minute, Grant followed suit in the 10th. Grant would find the back of the net again in the 14th, but when Palmer netted again in the 24th, St. Mary seemed content to settle for the familiar humdrum of an expected battering.

Walker stole in to finish up Robert Palmer's spilled 35th-minute free kick while Christian was allowed another tap-in effort one minute later.

Palmer completed his hat-trick in the 38th minute and Grant drifted in from the 18-yard area, weaving his way past three defenders, to push the score to 7-0 heading into half-time.
