Education adviser to canvass views
published: Friday | October 19, 2007

Alphansus Davis says his responsibilities in his new role in the Ministry of Education will include advising the minister, Andrew Holness, on matters related to school management and its functions.

This, he said, will mean that he will be interfacing with principals and vice-principals within schools, as he canvasses views on policies in education.

Mr. Davis told The Gleaner at the Association of Principals and Vice-Principals annual retreat, held October 11 to 14 at the Starfish Hotel in Trelawny, that he will be up to the task required in his new role as senior adviser to the Education Minister.

"I am a team person and I know that there are persons out there with great ideas," he said. "What I intend to do is not to personally influence anything but to go out there, liaise with the practitioners, get their views, summarise their views and convey the information to the minister. So it is not a personal thing, but a team approach to what needs to be done."
