I write here in response to information published in The Gleaner on Thursday, 4th October, 2007 and Dr. Orville Taylor's article Clerical Omission published in The Sunday Gleaner, October 7, about Special Convocation of the Archbishop of York and the names and dates of the others - Desmond Tutu (1986), Nelson Mandela (1991), Colin Powell (1994), Harry Belafonte (1996), Kofi Annan (1998) and John Sentamu (2007).
The article went on to say that Archbishop's Sentamu "will be the sixth time" that Honorary Doctorate was conferred but I attended a special convocation for the late Robert Runcie, Archbishop of Canterbury at the Assembly Hall at the UWI, Mona on March 17, 1984 when he received his Honorary Doctorate.
