SEX AND RELATIONSHIP - Dressing for bed

So you spent the better part of two hours prepping for bed. A long bath, applying your favourite perfume and slipping into that sexy lingerie you just bought to entice your partner.

He slips into bed, oblivious to the effort you put into looking nice, then asks, "Why are you wearing so much clothes?"

Sounds familiar? Well, most women confess that they have experienced a man's ignorance when it comes to dressing for bed.

Many women complain too that the men don't attire themselves properly for bed. "For them, a shorts and a T-shirt is the norm. They don't think that occasionally, they can wear sexy boxers for their wives or girlfriends," Naomitells Flair.

She strongly believes that men should put more effort into looking good at bedtime as women do.

"Maybe a silk boxer now and then, or even a snug one can be appealing to any woman. Shorts and T-shirt turns me off," she adds.

Lifestyle consultant Dr. Heather Little-White, concurs with Naomi that men who don't prep for bed turn off many women.

"They say this is a turn-off for them when the men come into bed in their day clothes, but many women don't voice this to the men." Dr. Little-White noted.

No problem prepping

Howard, an older man, says he doesn't have a problem prepping for bed, adding that wearing a thong brief is also an option for him.

"I have no problem wearing a thong for my woman. I'll do anything in the privacy of my bedroom, but outside of that, wearing a thong is a no-no," he said. Buying one for himself is not an option, he says, but if he gets it as a gift, that's OK.

However, he states that a man doesn't prep for bed the way a woman does, but rather, tries to wear something that can be taken off quickly.

Where hygiene is concerned, both Naomi and Howard say that it is of importance. Dr. Little-White concurs and says men need to ensure that they smell fresh by showering and spraying on their favourite cologne before jumping between the sheets.

The sense of touch should also be taken into consideration. "Touch is an important component in foreplay, so it can create more excitement and appeal," Dr. Little-White said in relation to men wearing silk boxers instead of regular ones.

Like Howard, she notes that dressing sexy for bed doesn't come naturally to men, so it's up to women to help them in this area.

Therefore, buying him nice silk boxers or a robe for special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries, will build a collection for him.

If he is hesitant to wear his, set the stage by dressing up first and then encourage him to wear his. You can ask him to wear the gift you bought him or say, "I like you in these kinds of clothes".
