The Woman's Club members braved the rain to honour those who had given years of yeoman service. The gathering took place at their luncheon held at the Terra Nova Hotel last Thursday.
The club has been around for the last 70 years. They often donate monetary gifts plus voluntary service to various charitable organisations. Last year, on their 70th anniversary, they donated US$11,000 to the Diabetic Clinic to purchase a dialysis machine. This year, they presented $50,000 to the Diabetes Association for the same purpose.
Wendy Freeman, the deputy British High Commissioner, came out to celebrate with the club members.
Long-serving members received certificates of appreciation. Recipients included Carmen Jackson for 43 years, Lileth Brown for 41 years, and Peggy Blades for 32 years.
