NOTE-WORTHY: Dawn needs to change course
published: Tuesday | October 2, 2007

Dawn needs to change course

I just wanted to ask Dawn Ritch if she intends to spend the next few years criticising every thing the current Prime Minister does?

Apparently she is the only one (or anybody she so dubs) who has a clear view of what is happening and going to happen to Jamaica. Is Ms. Ritch saying that her opinions are 'more' valid than the next man's. Why should we listen to you and not the Prime Minister?

What I think is ironic though, is that since Mr. Golding has come into office (based on Ms. Ritch's writings) he has not done anything right, yet when Mrs. Simpson Miller was in office she could do no wrong. Ms. Ritch speaks about tribalism yet by dint of her anti-Bruce and pro-Portia rants she has shown herself to be the leader of the camp.

G. A. Grieves, Kingston 17.

Uphold the constitution

While some people have no quarrel with the U.S.A. for not allowing anyone but a natural born citizen to be president, those same persons are objecting to Jamaica's constitutional position on parliamentary eligibility. This is a sovereign nation and we have given up much of our rights already. Just look at the deportee and extradition programme.

We must hold on to this one. We must show pride and try to focus on some of the subject matters mentioned above. We must walk good on our feet and not crawl on our knees!

Well done, King Alarm

I draw reference to an item I heard on the television news just over a week ago where it was reported that security officers from King Alarm accosted, apprehended and disarmed an armed robber at a Kingston store.

While few details were given in the story, it was striking that all of this was done apparently without mention of a single shot having been fired and I believe that this must be testimony to the manner in which these security officers responded to the situation and quite possibly the level of training that they have received in how they approached the premises.

Big up King Alarm!

Searching for...

I visited your beautiful island in December 2000, and had a hostess Mari 'The Empress' Smith; but I have lost any contact with her and family. Would you kindly help me find this woman. She was living in Wilderniss District and had two daughters ... one died in January 2000. Can you please assist in locating this family for me. I am living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Holland).
