WESTERN BUREAU:

CLARENDON COLLEGE blunted the challenge of Vere Technical in their much-hyped ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup Zone H clash yesterday when goals by Tamar Pascoe (two), Timar Malcolm and Andre Campbell gave them a big 4-1 win at Chapelton in Clarendon.

"It was pretty good performance by the team although we missed quite a few chances," said Clarendon coach Claude Robinson. "Nonetheless, we are quite pleased with the score and the general performance of the team."

By virtue of their win, Clarendon College, who now have made it five wins from five starts, lead the group with the maximum 15 points.

Vere Technical, who tasted defeat for the first time this season, remain locked in second place on 10 points with Lennon, who did not play yesterday.

Champions Glenmuir, coming off a 1-0 loss to Garvey Maceo in their last outing, comprehensively whipped Tacius Golding 12-0 in their Zone I fixture. Ricardo Webb (five), James Thomas (four), Clovel Dinnal, Drion McNain and Nigel Francis were the goalscorers for the Jackie Walters-coached defending champions.

Rusea's, one of the teams fancied by the pundits to dethrone Glenmuir, hit a snag in their Zone B fixture against Frome yesterday, going down 2-1 at Frome.
