MC Michael Anthony Cuffe called it 'jazz on the green', quipping that green was a popular colour these days.

But there was nothing political about the music as the United States Embassy officials hosted 'An Evening of Jazz' at The Jamaica Pegasus gardens on Tuesday evening. Patricia Attkisson, U.S. public relations officer, said: "Jazz is an experience not many people can resist. We offer this music from what is deeply entwined in our country, rooted in everything from gospel music to the blues."

It was a mixture of all that from the performers. Harold Davis and Friends pleased the audience with their instrumentals and you know the big man had to do a few lines of a few of his favourite tunes. The group were not only the opening act for the concert, but also the backing band for the two soloists.
The evening's feature performer Jackie Jones has electrified audiences from New York to Germany and has opened, ironically, for Lou Rawls.

Among the guests were Ed and Rose Wehrli, Ambassador Richard Bernal and wife Margaret, Sonja Sutherland-Dumetz, Angela Patterson, Wyvolyn Gager, Maia Chung and mom Donnette, Ionie Ramsay-Nelson, Myrtha DeSulme and Kent Pantry.
