JIOB plays an important role
published: Sunday | September 30, 2007

Group Managing Director of NCB, Patrick Hylton. - File

The Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA) extends heartiest congratulations to The Jamaica Institute of Bankers (JIOB) as it celebrates 30 years of providing training and education in business and finance.

The JIOB has through its offerings of high quality, timely and relevant short courses, seminars, in-house training and the highly accredited Manchester Business School Worldwide MBA programme, remained true to its mission to provide continuous development of knowledgeable, responsive and customer driven professionals. The Institute and its programmes have been of tremendous value to the banking sector and hundreds of past students, including myself, have benefited.

Endorses quality

The Jamaica Bankers Association endorses the quality of the programmes offered, and we were proud to have recently awarded an employee of one of our member banks with a scholarship to pursue the Manchester Business School Worldwide MBA for Financial Managers and Finance Professionals. The JBA is committed to further strengthening its relationship with the JIOB to ensure that the training that is offered i with the needs of the banking sector.

Strong partnerships have been developed with organisations such as the University of Technology, formerly CAST, the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ), the University of the West Indies (UWI), the Caribbean Association of Banking and Financial Institutions (CABFI) and the Manchester Business School Worldwide, which enhance the offerings of JIOB.

We salute our predecessors; the Bank of Jamaica and the commercial banks, whose shared vision and foresight led to the establishment of this fine Institute. The JBA takes great pride in our association with the JIOB, which is in keeping with our mission to promote a vibrant, competitive banking sector that benefits both members and customers.

The Jamaica Bankers Association commends all those who have contributed throughout the years to the Institute's development and success; the various JIOB Councils for their creative leadership, the dedicated and professional administrators, the supportive partners and the highly skilled lecturers who have all ensured that the Institute performed with excellence in the delivery of its programmes. The sterling achievements of these three decades are a testament to a job well done!

Thirty years in operation, by any standard, is an impressive milestone. The JBA wishes The Jamaica Institute of Bankers continued success in training and educating professionals locally and regionally.
