Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller has named St. Ann South East, Member of Parliament (MP) Lisa Hanna and Central Manchester MP Peter Bunting to the list of 15 spokespersons for the party.

Miss Hanna, a newcomer to representational politics, will shadow the portfolio of information and youth, while Mr. Bunting has been asked to speak on matters relating to industry and commerce.

Speaking yesterday at a People's National Party press conference at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, the Opposition Leader said she was expecting a high level of performance from her team of spokespersons and their deputies.

Mrs. Simpson Miller assigned a number of former ministers to address matters they previously handled. Several returning MPs and newcomers have been named deputy spokespersons.

New portfolio responsibilities

The two new portfolio responsibilities introduced by Mrs. Simpson Miller are global warming and faith-based initiatives, which she said would be linked to the values and attitudes programme.

The Opposition Leader said her party would strive to protect the "interest of the working poor, the poor, the dispossessed, the elderly, our children and persons with disabilities".
