NOTE-WORTHY: Ganja no problem
published: Monday | September 24, 2007

Ganja no problem

As an American who legally smokes ganja under the direction of an American physician, I find it interesting that Mr. Bush would include Jamaica on the list of countries with high trafficking. In the United States, our children are poorly educated, using synthetic drugs and drinking alcohol at alarming rates.

Ganja is not the problem, people are the problem. I have five children, have a master's degree, gainfully employed for 30 years, a community advocate and a Christian. It is my prayer that Jamaica does not become so influenced by western culture that it loses its flavour and succumbs to the politics of a country that loves no one, but itself.

Internet access

I have become frustrated with the Internet service provided by Cable and Wireless, and I wonder when it will be able to regain confidence from other customers, like myself, who have had to suffer under substandard results.

Currently, I'm signed up for unlimited access, but on average I have been receiving half an hour or an hour's worth of service per day. In order to use the Internet, I have to get up at 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. to check if it's available. This is very inconvenient for someone who works full time and studies part time. I wonder when I will be able to actually obtain what I'm paying for.

Thanking police, et al

I must commend the police emergency services for their prompt assistance in getting us around the traffic after my mother fell ill and had to be taken by ambulance to hospital.

Yes, I received a police escort. Members of the King Alarm family were also quick to respond and followed up with phone calls to monitor Mom's condition.

My family and I would also like to extend thanks and commendations to the Ambucare family, in particular Ms. Litchmore and Mr. Denis for the incredible professionalism and compassion with which they treated Mom. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to the nurses, Drs. Jackson and Josephs, the porters and Ms. Brown and Mr. Williamson of the ultrasound/X-ray and CT scanner unit of the hospital for providing such wonderful, genuine care.
