Air Jamaica now offering new web check-in service
published: Sunday | September 23, 2007

Air Jamaica passengers now have the option of checking in for their flights online, the airline announced last week.

The new option, called Web Check-In (WCI), will reduce the check-in time at the airport, said the airline.

The feature at www.AirJamaica.com allows passengers with electronic tickets to check in for their flight, select a seat and print a check-in confirmation - over the Internet.

At the airport, passengers who have used the online service can proceed to the specially marked WCI counter for the relevant verification, baggage and security checks.

A boarding pass is then issued.

very convenient

"With this convenience," said Air Jamaica, "travellers with bags to be checked can arrive at the airport counter at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of their flight." International passengers with no checked bags can turn up one hour before departure.

During the initial rollout of this service, WCI will be available to passengers departing from Kingston, Montego Bay, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, allowing them to check-in four to 18 hours before scheduled departure.

In order to make the booking process smoother, passengers using WCI are required to have the first and last names of all passengers, reservation record locator, passport and any other relevant travel documents, in addition to emergency contact information.

The service is not available to travel groups of 10 or more, unaccompanied minors, special- service-need passengers, standby listings and persons connecting to other airlines, or what Air Jamaica called "inter-line flights".
