THE MEDIA Association of Jamaica (MAJ) has joined the list of news organisations criticising Government's plans to end the current schedule for weekly post-Cabinet press briefings.
In a statement issued yesterday, the MAJ called on the administration of Prime Minister Bruce Golding to reconsider the move and "to work towards a practical and efficient resolution of the matter".
'This decision has removed an established channel of open access to information, even as we are attempting to preserve the widest form of information sharing on issues of national importance," read the statement.
On September 12, just four days after taking office, Prime Minister Bruce Golding said the weekly post-Cabinet sessions would be a thing of the past as Cabinet decisions would first be made public in the House of Representatives.
