National Housing Trust (NHT) mortgage moratorium

The National Housing Trust (NHT) is providing a three-month moratorium for mortgagors affected by Hurricane Dean. The moratorium is a fixed one for the period September 1 to November 30, 2007.

Persons who want to take advantage of the moratorium must be in good standing with the NHT and must fill out an application form by September 14, 2007 and submit it to any NHT office. The form can be obtained at any of the NHT offices or online at www.nht.gov.jm.

The NHT will also be lending funds to the building societies at four per cent, which will lend these funds to customers at six per cent. To access these funds individuals need to visit a building society which will inform them of the requirements.
