Spencer is lone St Lucian
published: Friday | August 24, 2007

Castries, St. Lucia (CMC):

Female high jumper Levern Spencer is St. Lucia's only representative for this weekend's start of the International Amateur Athletics Federation World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan.

The CARIFTA high jump record holder at 1.88 metres and St. Lucia's national record holder at 1.94 metres, is the only St. Lucian to have qualified for the championships.

The 23-year-old Spencer recently won a bronze medal at last month's Pan American Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in the high jump, clearing of 1.87 metres.

Spencer, a student of the University of Georgia, United States, also took the gold medal in the high jump at the North American Central American and Caribbean Championships in El Salvador, jumping 1.89 metres.
