British High Commission reopens
published: Wednesday | August 22, 2007

The British High Commission is now open. This includes the visa and consular sections there may be a delay in some services offered.

The number to call the British High Commission is (876) 510-0700 and the British High Commission website, www.britishhighcommission.gov.uk/jamaica, provides detailed information on opening hours and telephone numbers for individual sections. The telephone numbers given out in the last few days are no longer in use.

The Visa Application Centre will open today. The website, www.visainforservices.com, provides more information.

The British High Commission said it congratulates the Jamaican people for their courage during the hurricane and wished the very best for the nation's recovery.

Yesterday the United States Embassy said it would reopen for business as usual today.

"All embassy offices will be open, including the Consular Section, Information Resource Centre, USAID and Peace Corps," the embassy said in a release.

The Canadian High Commission said on Monday that its immigration and visa section would be closed until August 27. The consular section will, however, remain open to assist Canadian citizens from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
