Four killed in St Catherine
published: Wednesday | August 22, 2007

THERE WAS a spate of homicides in the St. Catherine North Police Division over the past two days, three of them taking place yesterday.

Constable Kanika Clarke said a double murder took place in Thompson Pen at 1:00 a.m. Terrence Powell and his common-law wife, Patricia Blake, were the victims of an alleged attack at their home.

Their bodies were discovered five hours later by police. Powell, also known as 'Binghi Man', was found in the yard while Blake was lying on a bed inside the house.

Both bodies had multiple gunshot wounds, Constable Clarke said. Powell hailed from Percy Bush district in St. Catherine; Blake was originally from Nevermind district, Manchester.

Murdered at home

At 1:30 p.m., 65-year-old farmer Ivan Jackson of Byndloss district in Linstead, was murdered at his home in that town. The police say he responded to knocking on his door and was shot several times by gunmen; he died instantly.

The first of the murders happened Sunday in Lauriston at 8:00 p.m. The victim was 55-year-old contractor, Anthony Gayle, who went by the nickname 'Captain'.

He was shot by two gunmen at his business place located at Perseverance Drive in the district. Police say at the time he was talking to a female friend.

Mr. Gayle died while being treated at the Spanish Town Hospital.

The St. Catherine North police said no arrests have been made in either incident.
