Jamaica National waives money transfer fees
published: Wednesday | August 22, 2007

The Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) is temporarily waiving all fees charged for sending remittances through its JN Money Transfer network from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, St. Vincent and The Cayman Islands.

General manager of JN Money Services (JNMS), Emile Spence, said the fees were being waived for the next four days to assist those who were affected by the hurricane.

"We recognise that persons may wish to provide financial help for their family and loved ones in Jamaica to get back on track, and we decided to assist them in doing so by waiving the transfer fees," he said.

While remittances are normally collected at JNBS branches or JN Money Transfer agents, some recipients have an advantage because they are holders of JN Money Transfer Cards. This card enables them to collect remittances from any JNBS or multilink ATM islandwide," Spence pointed out.

He noted that JNMS was also making it more convenient for customers as the opening hours at several of its branches have been extended to assist with greater access to funds.

Spence emphasised that "there is also the added benefit of using the card to make purchases at point of sale merchants".
