The Editor, Sir:As a country, we have achieved so much, yet we fail to recognise it as our ignorance to these achievements is being side-tracked by political pandemonium.
Give unto Caesar what is his. Jamaica is a vehicle that needs a little servicing, nevertheless it is good to take on the next stretch of highway that is ahead of us. As a country, we make mention of Jamaica as if it is an old Rolls Royce Silver Ghost of 1906 that is irreparable. Lift up, Jamaica!
Let us take into consideration the fact of the number of disasters that the heavenly hand has let pass. In recent news, we heard of the massive flooding in Asia, where over 20 million persons are left homeless. How many countless times have we heard of hurricanes headed our way and we are spared? Let us give thanks.
Let us also face the fact that there are some unscrupulous persons who engage in activities that have marred the outward appearance of an inner beauty as Jamaica. This does not mean that Jamaica will not shine, in fact, we are shining; however, our glows are being deflected by the mirror of persons who see the bad in us rather than good.
I am, etc.,
