THE EDITOR, Sir:
ON MAY 29, I applied to the Registrar General's Department, South Eastern Office, 4 Trevennion Road, for a death certificate for my wife who died on April 26. I paid $1,250 for a seven-day service, receipt number 10402261762, transaction number 12247, cashier 633, registration number 3. The charge is broken down as follows: death certificate - $650; second copy - $100; seven-day fee - $500; total, $1,250.
I gave all the necessary documents they required and was promised they would deliver these death certificates by June 8, to my home. I have also made visits to the office and numerous phone calls. It has been almost two whole months now and I still have not received them!
It is very important that I get these documents as I need them to carry out very important transactions. I even spent four hours in the line at the Constant Spring Tax Office last week Friday, August 3, to do a transfer of the title for my wife's car, and when I reached the top of the line, they told me I could do the transaction unless I had the death certificate.
I am desperately in need of these certificates and I am very upset that I have paid for them, and still have not received them. What can be done about my situation?
I am, etc.,
