
Marlene Murray, Miss Jamaica 1962, is crowned by Marguerite Lewars, the previous year's queen. At left is third-place runner-up Barbara Casseres, and Nolia Skipton (right), second-place winner. In the 1960s, Jamaica had one party after another. In 1962 there was an independence to celebrate. In 1963, the most beautiful girl in the world, Carol Crawford-Mekens won The Miss World crown.
In 1976, Cindy Breakspeare brought the crown back home and in 1993, Lisa Hanna made us proud again. Whether they wore the crown of Miss World, Miss Jamaica, or Miss Independence, they were all queens.
