The right partyJamaica is 45 years into Independence and there are many of us thinking, bring back colonialism. Not me. Lack of ambition keeps some of us in our little world. The worm in a cabbage thinks the cabbage is the whole world, As election day looms the whole country should be holding the politicians accountable to make good their promises regardless of party colour. Instead, what do you get, you get the ignorant individuals bitching and dogging about the colour you are wearing, green or orange. May the party that is right for Jamaica win on election day and as my grandfather used to say ... my allegiance is between me and the ballot box. So may it be.

Air J attitudesAs a Jamaican returning home every year, I promised myself sometime ago never again would I fly Air Jamaica. I find the workers on board to be very rude and abrasive. If I am going to spend five to six hundred dollars on a trip, I demand respect. As someone in the travel industry, I have often encouraged my family and friends to stay away from Air Jamaica. My sister last year decided not to heed my advice. She came back to me after her trip however and explained to me how bad the treatment was. The national airline will never make a profit as long as the unfriendly attitude persists. Once that has changed, Air Jamaica will again be the airline of choice.

Action, not words"Jamaica too rich to be poor" is a very true expression, however, words are cheap and pie-in-the-sky economics will not alleviate poverty. Our leaders on both side of the aisle have no self-denial attributes about them. If concerns about the poor are of primary concern to our politicians, they should take a pay cut. It is not verbal expressions that create change, it's action. Jamaicans do not lack knowledge or are myopic of understanding to know any nonsense from either party. I say less talking and action and realistic goal-setting for Jamaica

Are e-bulbs tax-free?I was in Jamaica earlier last month and went to purchase some e-bulbs (energy-saving bulbs) and was charged GCT. I am of the understanding that this should not be the case, as they should be exempt from GCT. I contacted the Bureau of Standards who could not give me a straight answer. They put me on to the Consumer Affairs Commission, who also could not answer. Could this please be clarified by the authorities; also, can the tax be reclaimed?
