Summerbell ready for all comers
published: Thursday | August 2, 2007

Summerbell

Equipped with a brand new engine built by his long-time navigator, Stephen Gunter, David Summerbell says he's ready for the opposition at Monday's Independence Day race meet, scheduled for the Dover Raceway, St. Ann.

With a line-up of over 20 of the country's top circuit racing drivers, the event promises to be a thriller. For the past four race meets Summerbell has suffered a series of mechanical problems.

Improvement

Since switching mechanic and allowing the Montego Bay-based Kenroy Brooks to prepare his Mitsubishi Evolution for the last race meet, there have been signs of improvement.

Interestingly, Brooks is the same mechanic who is preparing Doug Gore's Mitsubishi Evolution. Gore is also Summerbell's arch-rival.

"The car is again being prepared by Doug Gore's camp. Once the car is ready then it should be a good meet for me," said Summerbell.

In the meantime, Tarik Minott, who competes in the MiPhone Toyota Starlet, has done a huge amount of work in making the car lighter and more powerful and is expected to put on a good show.

Defending IP 39 champion, Rohan Clarke, will renew rivalry with Duane Rowe, Eric Edwards, female champion Lisa Bowman-Lee, Peter Jaggon and Teyron Ramdon.

Peter Rae has been overseas for the past week and reports are that he is on a mission to boost the power of his Autodon/New York Brake Mazda RX7.

Reports also suggest that veterans Pinky McGann, Mike Causwell, Robin Sutherland, Richard Martin and Steve Sirgany are ready for action.
