Cop held in connection with illegal car ring
published: Thursday | August 2, 2007

A MEMBER of the Island Special Constabulary Force was yesterday taken into custody in connection with a car-stealing ring.

A spokesperson at the Constabulary Communication Network confirmed that senior detectives were interrogating the policeman.

Reports are that members of the JCF picked up the policeman after his Corporate Area home was raided yesterday.

This comes just over a week since another policeman, who was a member of Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller's security team, was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen vehicle in Yallahs, St. Thomas.

Slapped with four charges

That policeman was yesterday slapped with four charges, in relation to the vehicle, by the Director of Public Prosecutions. He is expected to appear before the Yallahs Court today.
