Orville Clarke, Freelance WriterTomorrow's programme at Caymanas Park offers nine races, all embracing the Pick-9 which proved elusive on Wednesday.
Thanks to a stunning upset by the 41-1 outsider SIR CHARLES in the fifth race, the Pick-9 managed to survive, as only one punter was good enough to spot eight winners. He won for himself just over $116,000, ensuring a $1 million carryover.
The Super-6, on the other hand, was caught by 12 punters, each receiving $181,239.
We look at the Super-6 which gets under way from the fourth race, a $260,000-$230,000 claiming over 1800 metres to be contested by eight starters. From the look of things, the winner should come from the quartet comprising HEZA RANKING, recent winner UNIQUE SELECTION, the front running DON'T STAY NAKED and down-in-class SHAHID, who is long overdue for a winning effort.
DON'T STAY NAKED will no doubt set off in front, but I fear he will be caught by either HEZA RANKING or UNIQUE SELECTION.
Briefly, MISS SLOOKIE is tipped to go all the way in the sixth, and PASSA PASSA (working well) to do likewise at the expense of GUIDING LIGHT and QUEEN OF MY HEART in the seventh race over 1500 metres for overnight allowance horses.
Then, take the very fit ABSOLUTE STORMER to outfinish ROYAL MAJESTY in the eighth over 1820 metres, before closing the programme with down-in-class MOST WANTED in the 9th and final race for the Drumbeat Trophy.
