Neither students nor parents find much excitement in the words 'back to school'. But for employees of Pablo's in Central Plaza on Satur-day, there was much excitement.
The staff of the store, located on Constant Spring Road, came up with the innovative idea to don school uniforms, some complete with knapsacks, to mark the beginning of their fabric sale which has a special on uniform material.
"It's a novelty that has been working so far," said Ashley Lattibeaudiere, manager of the store, who also doubled as 'principal' for the day.
Stephen McDonald, the store decorator and the man who was responsible for the idea, said it was all in good fun.
"Take our minds off the election and keep it fresh," said Mr. McDonald, who joined in and wore a St. George's uniform.
"You should do this more than once," one customer quipped.
Both men agreed that the strategy even pepped up the mood of the staff.
Waynette Brown, a sales attendant, proudly wore the burgundy and orange of Spanish Town High, as her daughter graduated this year from the institution. "I'm very proud of her," Miss Brown said, as her examinations went well.
The sale continues until September 1 and they will employ different strategies in coming weeks.
