There's nothing like a high school reunion to get the old boys and girls talking again. There's always something about meeting up with those you used to have lunch with and just enjoy the best days of your respective lives.
That sentiment abounded on Saturday night as the St. Andrew Technical High School's class of 1972 got together for their 35th anniversary reunion. So what makes the class of that year so special? "We think we're still under the influence of the great S.W. Isaacs Henry," says Sybil Jones, organiser of the event. Yes, the legendary headmaster is spoken of whenever the top ones are mentioned.
Fund-raising event
But this wasn't just a chance to get together and drink some Scotch. The event was part of the alumni's efforts to raise money for their alma mater's trust fund. Quite an impression this place must havehad on them to do this. One of the many good aspects to this event was that it was not exclusive to the '72 celebrants.
"We hope some of the other classes will get jealous and have their own things," chuckles Jones. Guests snapped up the memorabilia on offer and were treated to a sumptuous dinner while the 50/50 band provided the musical entertainment.
