
Levy-Tatum Jamaican-born Jennifer W. Levy-Tatum, a lifelong Democrat, handily won the Democratic Party nomination for judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County, Pennsylvania in the primary elections held in May.
She received 78 per cent of Democratic votes and 41 per cent of Republican votes, ending up with a total of 3,000 votes more than her Republican opponent.
The two can-didates will face off in the Novem-ber elections. Ms. Levy-Tatum is the daughter of Wesley and Sylvia Levy of Free Hill, St. Mary. She is a graduate of St. Andrew High School and University of the West Indies, Mona. She was a Jamaica Scholar in 1973.
Called to service
"I take the law very seriously," said Levy-Tatum, who graduated from Widener University School of Law in 1997.
"I am running for judge because I believe I have been called to do so, and because I believe that the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County should reflect the new diversity of our community," she added during a recent interview.
Levy-Tatum has demonstrated her commitment to the legal community through her involvement as a frequent judge of Moot Court competitions at Widener University Law School. She is on the Zoning Hearing Board of her township, and acts as an arbitrator in the Court of Common Pleas.
In her professional life, Levy-Tatum runs her own law practice in West Chester and is an adjunct professor at Eastern University. She is principal of Levy-Tatum & Associates, P.C., a law firm which she founded in 1999, which concentrates its practice in real estate and probate matters.
