NOTE-WORTHY: Get over it
published: Friday | July 13, 2007

Get over it

I am moved to respond to the writer who claims she can no longer send her children to Jamaica for the summer, because of the election date.

I can guarantee you that these poor kids will be held in detention in possibly a musty apartment, not being able to do anything else but play video games, eat hamburgers and drink sodas, thereby being denied the freshness of the air, the lovely organic foods and the freedom to run around the yard without anyone having to worry about a child being snatched.

My lady get over it; you should only worry if your kids were political activists.

Vote for change

Jamaica is a country of great potential. Is this being released? Is the government what it should be? Is poverty under control? Should crime and chronic unemployment be put up with?

Don't these awful situations cry out for change? It is in your hands to use your vote for a government that will stand against crime, corruption and evil, stand for honesty, integrity and prosperity for every one.

Vote for change to restore the 'Pearl of the Caribbean' to her rightful state.

Be inclusive

We cannot afford any more divisiveness in this land. There was a time, long ago when people of African descent, called slaves were disenfranchised.

Then there were the Jews who were victims of the holocaust. Recently it was the Rastas. They were beaten, trimmed, shunned, refused education and job opportunities. Now it is those who dare to be different in sexual orientation, dress or looks. Who will be next?

If we do not grow up and learn to be respectful and inclusive of differences, we are going to self-destruct; we are already on that path.

Homosexuality is not going away. Live and let live.

If we can fight corruption, child abuse (paedophilia), domestic violence, murder, illiteracy, and the general moral decay in the society, with the same energy we fight homosexuality, Jamaica would be a better place for all.
