LEADERS ST. Elizabeth secured first innings points over the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) at the end of day one in their round eight match of the Jamaica Cricket Association's (JCA) Super Cup at Alpart yesterday.
Batting first, the Soldiers were skittled out for 121. National Under-19 representativ Beckford claimed 6-28 and Wayne Simpson 4-31 for the hosts.
In reply, St. Elizabeth were bowled out for 190. Damion Ebanks top scored with 59 and received good support from Davian Davidson, 54, and Shawn Findlay, 50 not out. Kamal Dennis (4-37) and Joseph Palmer (2-21) were the leading wicket-takers for JDF.
Batting a second time, JDF reached 50-1 at the close.
At Chedwin Park, former national player Keith Hibbert scored 133 and Damion Bryce made 113 to help St. Catherine to 339 declared against Manchester. David Powell (3-59) and Boris Hutchinson (2-36) were the pick of the visitors' bowlers. Manchester will resume today on 39 without loss.
At Kensington Park, Trelawny were bowled out by the hosts for 225, with Radcliffe Hall top scoring with 64. He received good support from Lorenzo Ingram (54). Orace Dwyer finished with figures of 5-71. Kensington will resume on 48 for two.
At Melbourne Oval, the hosts surrendered first innings points to Westmoreland in their encounter. Melbourne were bowled out for a mere 112, with Carlton Baugh Jr top scoring with 49. Evon McInnis took 4-39.In reply, Westmoreland were dismissed for 186. Nicoy Samuels (30) and Myron Wilson (29) were the top scorers for the visitors. At their second turn at bat, Melbourne reached 196 for three at the close.
