Manchester, St Elizabeth face-off
published: Saturday | May 26, 2007

St. Elizabeth, last weekend's lone winners, will face Manchester in the feature match of the Jamaica Cricket Association Super Cup, starting at 10:00 a.m. today at Alpart Sports Club.

Joint leaders on 10 points with Jamaica Defence Force, St. Elizabeth are on a high following their outright win against Lucas last week after taking first innings points off defending champions St. Catherine the week before.

On the other hand, Manchester, which have seven points - the same as Kingston - could consider themselves unlucky as rain ruined their bid for outright victory at least once.

Shawn Findlay, who has so far scored 224 runs at an average of 44.8 and Howard Powell with 188 at 47.00, should once again lead St. Elizabeth's batting with support expected to come from Shane Powell, Damion Ebanks and Davian Davidson, who are yet to spark.

Wayne Simpson, who picked up 11 wickets in last week's victory against Lucas, is the in-form bowler, but Howard Powell with nine victims, Linton Buchanan (seven), Finday and pacer Ainsley Goss with five each, should play the supporting role.

Manchester will once again bank on Donovan Sinclair, who has scored 192 runs from three innings at an impressive average of 192.00. Sinclair, who scored 101 not out against Lucas, should expect support in the batting department from Jeffery Scott and Gray Graham, along with Matthew Sinclair, who has yet to find his touch.

André Dwyer will lead their bowling charge with support from Neive McNally, David Powell and Donovan Sinclair.
